Simba Weighing In

Simba's growth chart is starting to scare us. He weighs in at 30 lbs. and measures 18 " at 18 weeks ( approximately 4 1/2 months). If his puppy temperment wasn't as calm, cooperative, happy, patient, and easy-going, we would be getting a little nervous. When we take him into our laps, he flops down like a rag doll. He enjoys attention, takes praise, but is happy to sit quietly in his playpen.

Simba's ears are still at half-mast, occasionally one stands up for a few minutes. He is crate trained, house broken, leash trained, and heels nicely while hiking with us--always checking for us and our approval as Chelly romps off in search of rabbits. He passed the cross-country travel test last week. Simba changes daily and will certainly be a burley, stocky cow dog with a sweet bully-face and floppy ears. He hasn't chewed down his dog house or demolished anything, and is generally not at all destructive except for his chew toys. He quickly submits to Chelly and other dogs in his play group, but can hold his own on playground.

So far, he's the picture of the perfect puppy--even if there is bull mastiff lurking inside that robust mottled cow dog coat.
