New Kid on the Block

Just got in from our trip last night. Our neighbors, (and friends and dog-sitters) Bob and Lisa just stopped by with their new rescue puppy...7 week old "3 Wire," an Aussie Cowdog mix. They have always loved Chelly (indeed, I sometimes wonder if they will refuse to give her back after baby-sitting when we're out of town), and now they have a cowdog of their own. You might wonder about his name. Both Bob and I were Naval Aviators, and the third arresting cable (of four) is the one we try to grab with the tailhook when trapping aboard the aircraft carrier. Great name, but how do you use it to call the dog? Two syllables is good, but perhaps a little ungainly here. I guess I can't really say much though...we went through pretty much the whole Charles Schultz repertoire with previous dogs: Linus, Lucy, Pig Pen, Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty and most recently Schroeder. The one that our daughter Hallee named that didn't work too well was "Peanuts." Try yelling that one in public and see what kind of looks you get. We settled on "Peepers" instead. Anyway, welcome to the world little guy, we know you have a great home!
